Satpura National Park

Satpura National Park, nestled in Madhya Pradesh's Hoshangabad district, is a tranquil haven for nature enthusiasts. Spanning 524 sq.km, it forms a key part of the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve, established in 1981. The park's lush landscape showcases a blend of moist deciduous, dry deciduous, and Central Indian sub-tropical hill forests, dominated by Sal and Teak species. Boasting 1190 angiosperm species, 50 mammals, 254 birds, 30 reptiles, and 50 butterflies, it stands as a biodiversity hotspot. Wildlife includes endangered species like Indian giant squirrels and flying squirrels, with a history of lion and elephant presence. The park offers unique wildlife watching experiences through jeep, elephant, walking, and boat safaris, in contrast to other reserves. With a core zone of 524 sq.kms and a buffer zone of 4525.93 sq.kms, Satpura National Park provides a less crowded, serene environment for jungle safaris, including night patrols in buffer zones post-sunset, offering a glimpse into the nocturnal forest life.
